FAQs

What You Should Know About eCap Network

  • What is eCap Network?

eCap Network provides comprehensive energy management services for smaller- and mid-sized industrial, commercial, institutional and municipal facilities. We specialize in designing projects that conserve energy and reduce emissions while, at the same time, lowering costs and generating new revenue. eCap Network identifies sustainable solutions that maximize overall energy and resource efficiencies.

  • Why is energy management so important?

Minimizing energy costs helps to give organizations the flexibility to invest in worker training, capital expansion and other activities that offer tangible economic benefits to local communities. It also helps to reduce the environmental impact of commercial activity and preserve economic and recreational opportunities for future generations.

  • How is eCap Network different from other energy management consultants?

We’re different from most energy consultants because we don’t sell products or services that give us a “point of view” to influence our recommendations. Instead, we’re an impartial third party that has no interest whatsoever in selling you a specific piece of equipment, system, solution or service and then disappear.

Our cost of service is based on 3 to 5 years of savings instead of the usual 10 to 15 of many energy service companies.

  • What kinds of services does eCap Network offer?

    Our services include:

    • Comprehensive Energy Planning – Get a long-term handle on your total spending and capital investment plan.
    • Energy Efficiency – Take on straightforward projects with relatively short payback time.
    • Financial Assistance – Let us find loans, grants, leases, tax credits or rebates to support your projects.
    • Curtailment – Analyze financial incentives for temporary demand reductions.
    • Brokered Power – Increase your purchasing power by aggregating with other facilities in your area, or within your trade or business association.
    • Energy Credits – Enhance financial returns through aggregation and trading of energy credits on emerging markets.
    • Distributed Generation – Improve cost certainty and reliability with a renewable local power source.
    • Local Energy Planning – Analyze and identify distributed generation systems and other solutions that serve multiple facilities.
  • What is eCap Network’s 3rd SOURCE program?

The 3rd SOURCE initiative was developed with funding from the R.K. Mellon Foudnation and the Heinz Endowments. The program is designed to work through non-profit organizations, associations and municipal governments to implement projects that will aggregate and share the financial benefits of energy efficiency, carbon reduction and lower demand.

  • What kind of savings can my organization realize by working with eCap Network?

The savings an organization experiences through working with eCap Network vary. Compared to traditional energy service companies, our return on investment is quick because the cost of service is based on 3 to 5 years of savings instead of the usual timetable of 10 to 15.

  • What’s the process for working with eCap Network?

Working with eCap Network is a straightforward, five-step process that consists of:

    • Conducting comprehensive energy asset reviews
    • Prioritizing project opportunities according to quickest return on investment
    • Identifying grants, loans, tax abatements and other incentives for energy efficiency
    • Developing and managing implementation of energy reduction strategies
    • Measuring and verifying savings and emission reductions

Because we play the role of project manager, you have one point of contact for multiple projects.

  • What areas of the country does eCap Network serve?

We serve clients throughout the continental United States from our offices in Pittsburgh, and with assistance from qualified consultants and contractors based near our projects whenever possible.
